The homestead is located in Piliakalniai village, 20.5 km from Jonava town and 3 km from Panoteriai town. It is a cultural monument of the republican significance. Since 1967, there is a working museum here.

The homestead, located on the territory of 0.30 ha, consists of a two-end wooden house, a barn, a garden, and a linden grove. The museum is private. Every year since 1967, the homestead has been hosting the poet’s birthday celebrations, which were organized by the writer’s wife Teofilė Vaičiūnienė together with Šilai eldership and Panoteriai School. On that day, writers from Vilnius and Kaunas used to gather at the homestead and responsible employees and creators of Jonava district took part. During the event, the winners of the regional poetry competition dedicated to the memory of P. Vaičiūnas, poetry and other works were awarded.

Now the owner of the homestead lives in Klaipėda, the poet’s relatives died; therefore, the meetings in the museum on July 11, the birthday of the poet, playwright and translator, are less and less frequent. Until 2008, in the birthplace of P. Vaičiūnas, traditional republican gatherings of amateur theatres, organized by the Panoteriai Cultural Centre, began.

Tourists can only see the outside of the museum, as since 2005 the hosts have not opened the doors of the buildings and no longer allow visitors inside. Student excursions are visitors of the homestead; there also organized some nature days and passing by guests stop there. The linden trees, planted by the poet’s grandparents, preserve the famous compatriot memory.
