The settlement (Kulwa) is mentioned in the 14th century descriptions of the Crusader war routes to Lithuania, the land of Kulwa was mentioned for the first time in the New Prussian Chronicle in 1382, and the Kulwa manor was mentioned later. A wooden chapel was built at the beginning of the 16th century, replaced by a brick chapel in about 1650; it was rebuilt in 1847, rebuilt in 1911, burnt down during the Second World War, and only the 1903-1921 yearbook survives. Panoteriai
Panoteriai is a town in Jonava district, Šilai municipality, the centre of Panoteriai municipality, 19 km north-east of Jonava. The settlement is bounded on the south by the Bareišiai forest. The right tributary of the Loki River, the Notera, flows through the town. According to linguists, the name of the place comes from this river. Historical sources mention Panoteriai from 1441, in the donation document of the Siesikiai church.

Upninkai
Upninkai is located in Jonava district, on the left bank of the Šventoji River, about 15 km east of Jonava. It is believed that the name of the place comes from the word "river", as the area is surrounded by the Šventoji, Širvintos, Neris and smaller streams. The Lietava river flows through the municipality, which some researchers believe may have given rise to the name Lithuania. The settlement of Upnininkai is the centre of the largest municipality in Jonava district.
The Upnininkai area has been inhabited since ancient times, as evidenced by numerous archaeological monuments, Stone Age camps, preserved mounds, burial mounds, ancient fortifications, etc.

Attractions of the Panoteriai region

However, even here you can find places of interest for Lithuanians and visitors. The history of the town itself, which is linked to the building of a chapel for the faithful, dates back to 1441, when the parish of Panoteriai was established and the place name was officially mentioned in archival documents.
